How to Tell if Your Job Interview Went Well

You’ve just had the first interview for the job of your dreams, and you’re so concerned about what you felt went wrong that you completely missed the signs that told you that the job interview actually went really well.

So now think back, and try and remember if your potential employee displayed and of these signs that indicated that your job interview actually went well.

  1. Body language is an excellent forecaster of how the job interview went. Pay attention to smiles, head-nods, laughs, and eye-contact; these are all good indications that you are having a positive interview.
  2. If you are asked about what kind of salary you would expect, it is a sign that you are making their short list of potential candidates and that they might be thinking about making a job offer.
  3. A good sign is when you are invited to meet other members of staff or given a tour of the office
  4. If you are asked how long it will take you to give notice in where you currently work, then this is a clear sign that they are thinking about recruiting you for themselves!
  5. If your interviewer is taking time to answer your questions! Interviewers do not have the time to waste on answering a candidate’s questions unless they are seriously interested in the person. This is a very positive sign.
  6. If your interview ran over the allotted time period this is a good sign. It shows that you were an interesting candidate that the interviewer was prepared to invest a lot of time in getting to study and consider for recruitment.

Lastly, it goes without saying that if you are offered the position or asked to come back for a second interview then this is a clear sign that your interviewers were impressed with you.
