This is a broad-ranging topic. Political risk in this context is also known as geopolitical risk that can affect the returns from a venture resulting from changes in government administration and or legislative bodies, influences of foreign policymakers, or military control that can change the aspects of the original agreement. As the length of time required to complete a project increases so does the potential factors in terms of geopolitical risk increase. Other aspects in terms of political risk can represent taxes, spending, regulation, currency valuation, trade tariffs, labor laws, and environmental regulations that can change the returns. This also includes oil price fluctuations. The pipeline agreement between Uganda and Tanzania eliminated Kenya due to terrain costs where Kenya is opting for its own pipeline and oil reserves which are next to the Sudan that is another oil producing country. This could have ramifications for the Uganda and Tanzania pipeline in the future. If you would like this project developed, I am able to pull together a number of political factor to result in a dissertation. Please contact me for more details.
